CRPD General Comment No. 3: Women and Girls with Disabilities
This General Comment provides more guidance on the interpretation of the CRPD with regard to the right of women and girls with disabilities. In particular, the General Comment:
- Recognizes the intersectional nature of multiple discriminations women with disabilities can face;
- Recognizes direct and indirect discrimination, discrimination by association, denial of reasonable accommodation and structural/systemic discrimination, and;
- Recognizes that women with disabilities have the right to choose the number and spacing of their children, as well as the right to have control over and decide freely on matters related to their sexuality, including sexual and reproductive health, free of coercion, discrimination and violence.
